WSDOT tests speed cameras on I-5 and I-90 to curb collisions and improve safety
3New speed cameras have been put up on southbound Interstate 5 in Skagit County and eastbound Interstate 90 in Spokane County, as part of a pilot program meant to reduce speed-related collisions.
In Skagit County, the cameras are on southbound I-5 between Bow Hill and Cook roads. In Spokane County, the cameras are on eastbound I-90 between Liberty Lake and the Washington/Idaho state line.
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) selected those areas based on data indicating speed as a significant factor in fatal and serious injury crashes. From 2019 to 2023, 3,346 people have died in crashes, according to WSDOT data.
