Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is an upcoming Soulslike action role-playing game developed by Leenzee and published by 505 Games. The player assumes the role of Bai Wuchang, a female pirate, embarking on a journey through the war-torn and plague-stricken lands of Shu during the late Ming dynasty.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is scheduled to release for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on 24 July 2025.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a Soulslike action role-playing game. It is played in single-player mode from a third-person perspective.
The player controls the female pirate Bai Wuchang. She has access to twenty-five weapons, each offering a distinct combat style, spread across five weapon types. She initially wields the longsword Cloudfrost's Edge, a weapon based on the Chinese changdao. Her weapons can be equipped as a primary or secondary option, allowing for quick weapon switching.
The combat system is centered on Skyborn Might, which can be accrued and is used to activate abilities. Wuchang can utilize weapon skills tied to her current weapon and discipline skills associated with its weapon type. In addition, she has access to forty spells, which can be assigned to four spell slots. The spells can be integrated into weapon combos, but a spell-focused combat style is also possible.Defensive maneuvers include dodging, blocking, and parrying, with the latter two depending on the discipline skills associated with the type of equipped weapon. The playstyle can be adjusted by reallocating points in the skill tree at no cost.
Wuchang can be affected by Madness. Madness at certain thresholds unlocks moves and abilities specific to weapon types. It eventually manifests as a glowing red mark at the nape of her neck, signaling that her attacks are stronger and that she is more susceptible to damage. If she dies while the mark is active, her Inner Demon materializes as a hostile entity haunting the area where she perished. It resembles Wuchang herself, wielding the same weapons, spells, and items.
Wuchang can collect outfits as loot drops from enemies. Each outfit's appearance reflects the design of the enemy it was obtained from.A transmogrification feature allows outfits to be selected based solely on appearance.
The game follows a non-linear progression. It takes place in a world with interconnected areas. The traversal between areas is seamless, but some paths may initially be restricted. Shrines, scattered throughout the place, act as checkpoints. Shu Sanctum, a temple, serves as the main hub. The world is populated by numerous non-player characters, who can be interacted with and may provide side quests. Player choices have impact on the course of the story and its eventual ending, with consequences that affect both the world and its inhabitants.
