Xeno Fighters is a freeware Shoot 'Em Up Fan Game developed by Team XF. Its game mechanics draw from Raiden Fighters primarily. Being a fan game, it contains many references to other games in the genre, both well-known and obscure.

R-Type Leo (アールタイプ・レオ Ārutaipu Reo), is a shoot 'em up game released exclusively in Japan in December 1992, running on the Irem M-92 arcade board. Similar to Irem's own Cosmic Cop, Leo replaces both the Force and Wave Cannon in favor of the Bit Devices - the charge meter will instead cause the bits to fling towards other enemies instead of creating a large power shot.

The R-9 Leo marked a different route of technological development within the R-Series. The Bit Conductor was greatly enhanced and empowered. Unfortunately, this meant removing and disabling the Wave Cannon and Force controllers for its first outing. After the events of Leo, newer technologies allowed restoration of the disabled controllers. Though the Leo Force was a strong addition, only a minimum amount of power was able to be routed to the Wave Cannon.
