You may have noticed that whenever I encounter enemies above a certain level, I tend to turn back. There are enemies you cannot face unless you have a higher skell. And the only better skells you can get after level 30 are level 50 skells, which you don't get until you reach level 30. For a good part of the game, you will be unwilling to face these enemies. Something I didn't learn until 60 hours into the game is that you can switch characters and control another one, while still keeping your created character on the team. However, it will always be recommended to use your created character because of the time it has been on the team.
