While rummaging about looking for information on the C64 version of the game, I came accross a forum post from someone who had found a copy of a strange game without a title screen, others had screen the screenshot and pointed out it was Xenomorph, but that the level didn't match anything in the game.

I've played through, mapped the level and have done a quick run through the interesting parts of it.

The map is available in the following location: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArbQ5hKlWHP8dHFWalYtTDlJbGhHRTA5VkM1UldHNHc

Points of interest:
You run much faster in this than the normal game, but the controlls sometimes freeze.
The status indicator does not change.
None of the items except for the scanner work.
This map has multiple tilesets and enemies present which does not occur in the full version.
some items are missing their interface when in your hand such as the communicator.
The communicator and radiation scanner still do not do anything.
The special equipment panel is still non-functional.
The Robomine has a battery slot that when activated causes the game to crash.
There are two rooms with lots of strange items in that do nothing and do not appear in the final version.
Some weapon ammunition looks different when on the floor.
You can put any item in the weapons holster.
There is no sound or music in this version.

I was hoping it would be possible to remove the map files from the disk and plant them in the original Xenomorph disk to see if any of the items still existed and had any additional functions, but the disk reads as an "ndos" disk which means I cannot get at the files to try this.
