Xexex - st.1 secret 1up conditions
3You must have 2 Flint power-ups. If the hidden item at the very start of the stage isn't a Flint power (or the 1up which randomly drops here) then restart
At the secret spot where the 2nd big ship spawns:
1. Kill the last batch of enemies and ensure the speed up is still on screen
2. Have the red tail of your ship touching the letter I in HI at the top of the screen
3. Release the Flint as you hear the big ships laser sound effect
4. Collect the 1up
This is the easiest way to do this. Your ship can be slightly infront or behind the letter I but you need to alter the Flint release timing to compensate. Once you've done it a few times you'll get the timing down easily. This trick works in both loops.
There's a similar way to trigger the 1up in st.3 too. I think you need to leave a power up on screen but collect it just as you release the Flint to trigger the hidden item. I forget the specifics and can't find the notes I used to have.
