XiousDs Gaming Computer Build Video Card Issue and Mining Hobby Continued
Welcome to the no surrender zone! Posting some comments on issues I had with my new gaming computer build. I will use it mostly for gaming, but will use it to mine a bit of Ethereum when it is not in use. (Don't hate me! lol I am not buying all of the graphics cards out there... really!)
Learning points:
(1) Make sure you are sure what wire connections are ground and which are power.
(2) Make sure you know which interface your graphics card uses by default in the BIOS or UEFI before there is an OS on the computer.
(3) Don't bother trying to use the on board HDMI for trouble shooting video with a Ryzen 1700 CPU!
System parts are:
Thermaltake Core X9 Black E-ATX Stackable Tt LCS Certified Cube Chassis
Acer K2 Series K272HUL 27" WQHD 2560 x 1440 (2K) IPS 4ms (GTG) Black LED Backlight LCD Monitor, at 60 Hz
Corsair CSSD-BRKT2 Dual SSD Mounting Bracket
Cooler Master MegaFlow 200 - Sleeve Bearing 200mm Blue LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases
EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 GAMING, 11G-P4-6696-KR
EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC Black Edition GAMING, 11G-P4-6393-KR
ASRock X370 Killer SLI/ac AM4 AMD Promontory X370 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 850W Smart Zero Fan SLI/CrossFire Ready
AMD RYZEN 7 1700 8-Core 3.0 GHz (3.7 GHz Turbo) Socket AM4 65W YD1700BBAEBOX Desktop Processor
SAMSUNG 850 EVO 2.5" 500GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Memory Kit
For those interested I use a different power setting combo when not playing games and mining instead. Power Profile While Mining:
My EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC Black Edition GAMING mines Ethereum at a little over 35 Mh/s at 74C with the power limit at 70%, the Core Clock at -355 MHz, and the Memory Clock at +602 MHz.
My EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC Black Edition GAMING mines Ethereum at a little over 35 Mh/s at 64C with the Power Limit at 70%, the Core Clock at -302 MHz, and the Memory Clock at +602 MHz.
I could run them harder to get a better hasrate, but I am trying to keep the temperatures from getting too high, and I want to keep the power draw lower.
