There has been an option to set the phone up to 4k all the time, however I find this to strain the hardware. I found the happy medium to be around 1440p. I believe simply using the Xperia Scaling provided on the phone does not take well to Quad HD. As many people know, 1920x1080 is scaled perfectly by 4 times when ultra hd comes around. Basically if you multiply 1920x1080 by 4, you would get ultra hd. However, Quad HD is not a perfect scaling to 1080p, which the xperia runs at. So, the scaler on the Xperia cannot do the scaling on its own without glitches. That is why adb and the change to pixel density allows me to fix these issues and run the phone at Quad HD with no issues.
