In the late 1950’s and early 1960’s, while John, Paul, George and Ringo were listening to Elvis and Little Richard, members of the Yardbirds were searching record stores for rare sides by such exotic names as Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters and Sonny Boy Williamson. They learned their lessons well and were soon playing gigs at the “Crawdaddy Club”, a popular Rhythm and Blues venue that often featured another up-and-coming blues-based group, The Rolling Stones.
