[Yars: Recharged] In Space, There Is Only Revenge! | Part 1
5Recently I've been trying to get back into the Atari Recharged series of games, and originally my plan for tonight's stream was going to be Berzerk: Recharged, but lately, I've really not been able to get into The Zone for Berzerk - I'm getting middling scores, and nothing is quite reaching that big score that is still sitting at 9th in the World. So, rather than forcing it, I've turned my sighs to another game.
And what better game to choose right now than Yars Recharged, and also celebrate the upcoming Yars Rising, developed by WayForward. It's never been a better time to be a Yars fan!
Yars' Revenge tells the story of the insectoid race who evolved from Earth house flies, known as the Yar. Their planet, Razak IV has been destroyed by the evil galactic menace known as the Qotile. The Qotile is powerful but not invincible, and can be destroyed by the Yars' Zorlon Cannon, but their enemy is protected by shield cells which absorbs the the cannon's shot and a field of radiation that is all which remains fo Razak IV, stands between the Yars' weapon and the Qotile, preventing the weapon from locking on to their target. You must fly directly to the enemy and destroy the shield cells to make way for the shot, and signal for the cannon to be fired AT YOU!
Yars Recharged remains faithful to the original concept, while changing a few things up. Presumably some time later, the Yars have improved their technology, the Zorlon Cannon can now be manually operated by the Yar soldier! However, the Qotile tricks have also gotten more insidious! Now, many of the Qotile forces occupy the space that was once Razak IV, and using their shields they have constructed traps and even mazes for the Yars to contend with!
It's time for this Yar to take a stand, and have his revenge - RECHARGED!
