-----
The one Armored Core game that is the most dismissed out of all the entries in the series (maybe not counting 5th Gen AC, though that status is equally undeserved). Nine Breaker's an interesting piece of filler in the AC series because yeah, it doesn't progress the plot where Nexus left off, or have much of a real plot at all. But this kind of game, this extensive training regimen to reach the lofty status of Nine Breaker, is all in service of making you a better player at Armored Core because the game systems are nuanced enough that it's worth exploring in this context. The same thing could even work for more simple gameplay systems, and in fact has happened (MGS VR Missions are over there), so a game like this that is pure in its focus on gameplay and mastery deserves more respect than it gets. Although if this game were to have been the contents of Nexus' second disc, I won't lie, that would probably make more sense. It's a good supplement to the AC games before it, and good prep for the game that was soon to come after.
Next game: Metal Wolf Chaos (Microsoft Xbox, 2004)
