Yesterday (A Partial Playthrough Ending in Madness)
Welcome to my partial Let's Play of Yesterday, an adventure game from Pendulo Sudios. Join me as I stare disbelievingly at this game and descend into madness before quitting forever. Even as I type this I have various random objects in my pockets: screwdrivers, rope, lipstick, timer, watch, and a lighter. I don't even know why I picked these up, it was just automatic. It felt like something just... wanted me to. I've been getting weird looks. People wonder why my pockets are bulging with things. The other day I tried to shove a whole 4-foot plank of wood into my pocket. I kept trying to shove it in but it just wouldn't fit. Finally someone called security and I was kicked out of Home Depot.
Today I went to a friends house. I knocked but they weren't home. I took this as a challenge. I noticed there was a box of wire hangers sitting on the lawn at the house next to my friend's house. I found this lone box of hangers strange, but didn't really question it. There was a dog that seemed to be guarding it, as if it owned that box. As far as I know dogs are unable to own anything, so I found its attitude presumptuous. I had no reason to want a hanger but I felt compelled to grab one. I walked up to the box but the dog barked at me and something took control of my body, forcing me to walk away to a safe distance where control was then given back to me. I needed a distraction. I walked over to the nearest convenience store to buy a hotdog to distract the dog with; my reasoning being that any food with dog in the name will probably be enjoyed by a dog. On the way over I found a brick on the ground and stuffed it into my pocket. Just as I was about to enter the store I saw a sign that said "cash only" and I realized I had no cash. I went over to the conveniently placed ATM just outside the store and entered my card, but the machine didn't have any power. I saw a strange panel on the side of the ATM with some screws securing it down. Thankfully I had a screwdriver on me so I opened it. I fiddled with some wires and knobs and fuses and somehow managed to not electrocute myself. I secured the panel back on and the ATM came to life. I withdrew some cash, went inside the store and bought that hotdog. I went back to the dog and threw the hotdog behind the dog, and the dog proceeded to doggedly wolf down the hotdog. I used this opportunity to grab a wire hanger. I still didn't know what it was for but I had faith a use for this object would show itself soon. I went around the back of my friend's house and found a window slightly ajar. There was a door next to the window. I couldn't fit my hand into the gap, but I bent the wire hanger around to be the perfect shape to reach through that gap and grab the lock on the door. I wiggled it around and tried to reach it but it just wouldn't grab. I spent ten minutes trying this before giving up and just throwing the brick I had in my pocket through the window. I put on some gloves I had in my pocket for some reason and carefully climbed through the broken window. Just as I had entered I heard the front door open and my friend had come home! I told him I was so glad to see him. He didn't seem as happy as I was and asked me what the hell I thought I was doing. I told him I was doing the only logical thing. He didn't seem to like my answer. Now as I sit here typing this my only friend doesn't want to speak to me anymore. I haven't lost hope though, I take this friendship problem as a challenge that I can solve.
