Reflection:
There are 100’s of quotes and lessons that Bob taught me over the past year that I could share in this reflection, but I choose “Our Ideas are a success if we have more friends when they end” as the most impactful to me and the one that I feel best represents Bob at the end of the day.
After spending the past 365 days with Bob and taking this journey with him, if can officially say that I count Bob as one of my friends for life. That means, your idea of writing this book was a MASSIVE SUCCESS! Thank you so much for sharing yourself with the world.
I’m incredibly sad that our time has ended on this journey together as of yesterday, Emilia’s Birthday on 3/15/2022. I didn’t even realize it was our last day until I went to read the entry for 3/16 this morning and thought, “I feel like I’ve read that before…oh wait…it is 3/16 which means we’ve completed our entire year together”. It was in that moment that I became really sad realizing that I won’t get to spend each morning anymore with my friend, Bob Goff.
I felt the same way when my time with Joyce Meyer ended in our original 365-day reflection journey in Trusting God Day by Day that began the day Emilia was born on 3/15/2020. As I’ve done with Joyce this past year, I’ll occasionally revisit a reflection here and there from Bob throughout this next year from time to time, I’m sure. Just like with Joyce, it will feel like I’m visiting an old friend with whom I’ve made a lifetime of memories and learned so much.
What I learned most from Bob is his willingness and dedication to embracing anyone and everyone that comes across his path and treat them like family. People are his focus first and foremost in everything he does, writes, and how he lives his life. It doesn’t matter if you are an enemy, friend, Christian, or alien from another world…Bob Goff will embrace you with open arms, a smile, and a Cake Pop. Bob truly loves this world, and all it’s beautiful creatures in it.
At the end of the day, that is what all this whole journey of life is about in the first place. Love one another, create meaningful connections, and embrace humanity for all its beauty and flaws.
I can’t think of anyone I’ve ever spent time within my life that embraces this idea more than Bob Goff.
Your idea to invite others on a journey with you and share how much you love this world through this 365-day reflection journey is what inspired me to want to write my own to accomplish the same thing in my own way.
I got the idea for this Year of Magical Learning one morning after reading Bob’s thoughts and writing my normal morning reflection response. I thought to myself that I’ve been learning so much on this journey with Emilia, but it was beginning to feel selfish and self-serving in some ways. I was consuming so much knowledge and not able to give back to the world fast enough. One of my core values is to always give more than I take and that was not happening per my calculations at this stage in my journey. That is when I got this idea to do document this journey and to share what I’ve been learning with the world in my own way. That was the beginning of what has now become this Year of Magical Learning Adventure. I hope to honor Joyce, Bob, and all my other authors friends I’ve made along the journey for all they’ve done for me by paying it forward to others.
Most importantly, and just like Bob taught me, If I can make one friend by sharing this journey, this idea will have been a MASSIVE SUCCESS!
