I understand that advertisers are the source of the money, but also content creators are the source of the videos those adverts run on.

YouTube has proven to be quite good at upsetting both. The platform has shown me it's just too unstable for me to EVER monetise my channel and use it as a viable career. The adpocalypse showed how skitish the advertisers could be. The copyright system is too hostile to channel owners.

I wouldn't trust YouTube to give me a single penny of RELIABLE income. I'd rather cut out the middle man and go through Patreon. Maybe someday I will, but not right now.
