Yoyogames Sandbox - Danger in Digiworld
Playing this game was like playing a bad tennis match. It started off as bad as I expected -- at a glance it's a game design hobbyist biting off more than he/she can chew. Then I was quickly surprised at the effort and dare I say finesse put into the project: the platform mechanics that are mostly solid, especially for such an amateur effort; the graphics which, while imperfect, are pretty consistent; the catchy music; the enemy variety and frequent boss battles; and most of all the nicely performed voice acting which came as a COMPLETE surprise after the tutorial level. Then back into disappointment when the cutscenes rapidly fell out of sync, with lines of dialogue tripping over one-another, and characters failing to follow proper scene blocking.
Overall it's a swell effort for a beginner game design hobbyist, and I wouldn't mind playing it through to the end despite its flaws.
