Zak Wolf's Digital8 throwback!
I thought what with all my knowledge on video production (having been making videos for such a long time now, since I was a kid even!) I figured I could do a Zak Wolf vlog showcasing a brief lesser-remembered home movie format: Sony's Digital8! It used the same DV codec as the MiniDV camcorders from the late 90s to the early 2010s, but recorded onto Video8 and Hi-8 cassettes, and many models also had the advantage of playing back older Video8 and Hi-8 recordings, allowing you to easily import them into your computer via IEEE-1394/FireWire/iLink as if it were digital video footage, without the need of a separate analog-to-digital converter! It is that reason why I bought my Sony DCR-TRV460 Digital8 camcorder off eBay in 2014, for archiving and digitizing the Hi-8 tapes I recorded on between 2002 and 2007 before switching to MiniDV. This is in fact the first new video I actually recorded on the Digital8 camcorder, as I generally shoot all my video on tapeless/flash memory-recording devices these days (like my Canon Vixia HF-R600 camcorder or my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 phone).
