unlike the other main bosses you can actually freely run around the arena before initiating the fight so if you wanted you could set up an arena of hydrants to completely cheese this boss... like Terraria.

Opals are fantastic if you have them and water rods or hydrants can also work very well. Sidon will do his best to help but he unfortunately won't be too helpful in phase 2 because the sludge screws him up badly and some of those attacks get so ridiculous you'll more than likely need the shield to block the 5 hearts of damage he deals (and my gear has slighly above average defenses)
