The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been in development since 2019. And since Breath of the Wild, the Zelda series has been in it's longest drought since a new mainline Zelda title. With Skyward Sword being the previous game before Breath of the Wild. But between those two games, we've received titles like Ocarina of Time 3D, Majora's Mask 3D, Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD, Triforce Heroes and A Link Between Worlds. While between Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, we've only received Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, Link's Awakening (Switch) and Skyward Sword HD. It seems that Nintendo has shifted to focusing on the Sequel with Tears of the Kingdom, and it's long development time, giving us Zelda's longest drought.
