Zenith (Xbox Series X) (Xclusive Indie Playthrough - Part 26) Escaping the Infinigon
Check out part 26 of my Xclusive Indie Playthrough featuring the game Zenith! This game released on the Xbox One and Xbox Series family of consoles on September 29th, 2016. It was developed by Infinigon Games and published by Badland Indie.
In this video, Argus & Alana are locked up within the Infinigon's mothership & must find their way out.
Zenith is an action RPG (with a slight isometric camera view) that revolves around a retired mage named Argus who is fed up with going on adventures, but finds himself having to protect a doomsday weapon from the Infinigon and the Coalition (two dominant factions within this fantasy world that have tried to use this weapon before to take control of the world). All Argus wanted to do was to completely retire from adventuring and finally settle down (even though he's only 30 years old), however, he finds himself quickly tangled up in the huge responsibility of not letting the world getting destroyed. During his adventure, Argus crosses paths with many different characters who all have their own unique and funny personalities as they try to either help or hinder Argus from keeping this weapon of mass destruction safe. The game really places a huge focus on comedic dialogue and interactions between the characters and I have to say that it really pays off. I felt compelled to keep playing this game just because of how funny it was as I always wanted to see what the next joke would be. Along the way, Argus is also joined by a heroine named Alana whose personality is the complete opposite of his and, in some cases, makes his job of protecting the doomsday device a lot more difficult. Their journey is filled with many obstacles and enemies, but Argus stops at nothing to complete his last epic quest so he can finally have the peace and quiet that he has yearned for a long time.
As I mentioned before, this is actually a simple and lighter RPG as the combat is more focused around button mashing rather than chaining together combos. The skill tree is also very bare bones and the abilities/spells Argus has at his disposal is very minimal. The game also doesn’t include an in-game map which can sometimes lead you to run around in circles or straight up getting lost. On the positive side of things, this game does do a few things very well. The best aspects of this game are: the humor, the puzzles and the pace of the game as it does a good job of spreading all of its elements in just the right intervals. The puzzles are quite simple to figure out, however, the way they are seamlessly mixed together with the witty and funny humor makes completing them a blast. To be honest, most people won't remember this game for its combat, but rather for the story and all of its humor (plus all of the different homages and Easter Eggs from other famous games and franchises).
Finally, with regards to the achievements in this game: Zenith includes a total of 12 achievements for a total of 1000 GS. This is actually a fairly simple list (this could be thought of as one of the first easy achievement games) as it's made up achievements such as "kill x amount of enemies" or "destroy x amount of barrels". That's actually what makes up the only miscellaneous achievements in this game as the rest are straight up story related. Even though the achievements are easy it will still be quite a lengthy adventure as an average playthrough could take you around 10 to 12 hours. Even though it may be quite lengthy for something you would consider an "easy achievement game" I would recommend for anyone who enjoys RPGs to at least play through it once as it is worth every penny.
