Without any context at all, this is an awesome game. Well, it would be if I had an actual light gun. The enemies here can be bullet sponges when you least need them to be, so having twitchy reflexes and a fast trigger is key. I simply can't do that with what's available to me right now, so I end up lagging behind. I don't think a light gun would make this any less difficult, though. It's a true challenge with a lot going on for a 2D game. I love the theme, the animation, and the camp is just right. Did I mention this game has multiple endings? This pairs well with Castlevania and a good replacement for the Whip game that never showed up anywhere useful.

But, back that 2D thing...

I was surprised that it was tepidly received when I read the wiki, but then I remembered the year and...yeah. This was the start of the Virtua Cop / Time Crisis era. A 2D shooter was never going to complete, regardless of how good it looked or how well it played. You needed to be 3D or have some kind of gimmick if you wanted to survive in the arcades.
