The world you live in is not a simulation. No, it is real, but your *experience* of that world is comprised almost entirely of media - TV, Movies, Video Games, Books, Social Media - simulations of the real. Within the same world as these simulations exist depictions of the non-real as well - fictional characters, stories, abstract concepts like nation-states - simulacra of what was never real. Your experience, and almost everything you know exists in this world of media, this hyperreality. This is your reality just as much as the one you can touch. This is The Matrix.
