About The aesthetic of the Image: [world] cinema clips

"Film is a disease. When it infects your bloodstream it takes over as the number one hormone. It bosses the enzymes, directs the pineal gland, plays Iago to your psyche. As with heroin, the antidote to Film is more Film." - Frank Capra

6750+ clips!

Mostly world cinema/International/arthouse/‘experimental’ or 'indie' clips + cool Hollywood stuff...

Not really about 'famous' clips - but instead scenes where a particular image is paramount - though of course sometimes the two concepts are one and the same.

'Aesthetic' does not imply beauty as such - rather I try to vaguely interrogate what makes a particular image or set of images arresting or memorable. They might of course be beautiful, they could even be 'ugly.' I like cinema.

Lots (1663!) of interesting playlists - directors/theme etc

All clips now also organised into year of release playlists from 1878-2023* -- (1968 seems to be current Top with about 183 clips so far!)

Nearly every year (1878-2023) has its own playlist
