007 First Light interview - Reinventing James Bond (IO Interactive)
All Out Gaming sat down with IO Interactive's art director Rasmus Poulsen, discussing what it means to design the look and feel of IO Interactive’s very own take on the world of James Bond.
Given how much @IOInteractive left the stealth-action genre forever ‘shaken’ and ‘stirred’ with its defining Hitman: World of Assassination trilogy, it’s hard to think of a developer much better equipped to take on the next James Bond game. It helps, of course, that both franchises centre on a well-suited agent who is trained to kill (where necessary) and known for maintaining a certain air of elegance.
Yet there also comes a distinct challenge in tackling a much-beloved IP that isn’t your own. For nearly three decades now, IO Interactive has stayed accustomed to playing in its own sandboxes. Next year, however, won’t just see them play in someone else’s, but one that carries a lot more weight, as 007 First Light aims to continue the legacy of literature’s most famous super spy.
