This was my first ever play through which was essentially blind of Contra. One of my neighbours had it as a kid, but I never played much past either the base or first stage. Beautiful game and I was very impressed. I can see why people speed run this one: it's a fun one, which after playing it, isn't as difficult as I thought it was. The game itself is fairly mediocre for difficulty, but the real difficulty comes in dying and losing your weapons mid-level. Then stuff gets real and tough quick. Overall, wonderful game and one I'll be returning to as a possible speed run one day. :D
