#04: aka Reporting to Caius & Joining the Guilds

Having taken the Silt Strider from Seyda Neen, the trip to Balmora was easy. Now it's time to find Caius Cosades, an agent of the Blades and Imperial Spymaster on Vvardenfell; his package has the details of our orders, which apparently we are to be mentored by old Caius here. He gives us a bit of gold and points us to some work to get some experience before starting on the orders, and as I'm not so hot on being under the Emperor's foot, I'm outta there and off to join the Fighters Guild and the Mages Guild.

To get stronger we need to fight things for experience and earn gold for supplies and training; the Fighters Guild is a great place to start and has some free fatigue and health potions for members. Being a spellcaster, it's a great idea to join the Mages Guild too, and even if you're not it's still a good idea; you'll have access to spellmaking and enchanting services, enchanting and alchemical supplies, a host of various spells to buy, free scrolls and magicka potions, and last but not least: the Guild Guide, who will instantly transport you to other guildhalls around Vvardenfell for super cheap.

Their first quests are a bit mundane, but that's how things go in Morrowind. You start out as a shriveled prisoner with no combat efficacy, but if we work hard and focus our efforts, we can fulfill our potential, which is truly unlimited.

-------------

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (2002) is still one of the best immersive open world RPGs to this day. Vvardenfell is a strange world brought to life with massive amounts of lore and detail, so richly and lovingly assembled by Bethesda's team! It was way ahead of it's time, and quite the ambitious project. Even now, nothing compares, and fans of the series will most likely agree that Morrowind has something that both Oblivion and Skyrim lack - that sense of immersion, adventure, and a world so alive and unique that no other experience could ever touch the first time one goes down the rabbit hole.

We were also gifted the amazing Construction Set, to build and create any modification to the game that we could dream of (almost). There are still countless fans creating mods to this day, and breathing life into this historic game, for all to enjoy, veterans and newcomers alike. The legacy of Morrowind shall live on forever! However this is a vanilla playthrough, and I have no need for much more than some fixes.
