09/04 || Relaxation Station || The Finale, But Y'know, Long
0I've put this like everywhere, but let me say it here too, this game is good, I love that I played it and would definitely do it again. I say that because boy of boy are there several parts in this stream where I'm just left wanting to pull my hair out at this game, but its all just bizarre design choices, like the not quite 2d not quiet 3d platforming with a camera we both can't control and that seems to be tethered to an independently moving object aiming at this supremely odd angle. The same thing comes up during the shmup sequences, several play fine, but those are usually defined by having the camera behind the thing we are controlling, sometimes its off at this horizontal angle meaning its unclear how many "lanes" there are and giving significantly less information about one than the others.
Honestly though, I love this game, and II feel like the more I think about it the more I want to do another of my sort of essays, both on it's boss fight designs, some are super good and some are good but over long, and also more writing just on the design choices throughout the game and how they remind me of games that many of platinum's people made while they were at Clover.
Also boy this story got dumb in this last segment, like seriously, after operation 006 the plot went off the damn rails, both because every important goal we had kept getting achieved then rendered pointless, and also just no one else seemed to know what was happening, it really felt like they were building to a "this is a story being told by 2 ten year old just getting more extreme one-uping eachother and forgetting what they said they could do a few minutes ago" as the summation.
