Adding or removing characters from a cartoon is pretty easy – they just aren’t drawn anymore. Many popular cartoons have created new characters only to have them disappear from stories and create mysteries as to their true locations. Look back to see how many forgotten cartoon characters you remember from your favorite shows.
On Scooby-Doo, Scooby wasn’t the only dog solving mysteries. Along with Scrappy-Doo, we got introduced to the dim-witted Scooby-Dum, who quietly disappeared from the series. In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Raphael finds love in the form of a lizard named Mona Lisa. Too bad Mona Lisa just disappeared into the sewers. The Fairly Oddparents went a little fairy-crazy in later seasons, introducing a pet fairy by the name of Sparky. Arnold had his usual gang of friends including a kid by the name of Tucker, but after a faithful basketball game, Tucker disappeared and didn’t return. The Looney Tunes was filled with a lot of classic characters, but don’t expect to see Bosko the next time you head to Six Flags. Popeye has a lot of nephews, but it can get a little hard to keep track of them all – especially when they just disappear off the map. The Jetsons not only had a robot maid, but an alien pet who was unceremoniously removed from the show. The Simpsons has introduced a ton of characters through the years, but we rarely ever get to see Homer’s step-brother Herb anymore. On Recess, Miss Grotke was a key teacher for the students, but she must have got transferred as she stopped appearing later in the series.
