757Unless you’re playing the most wholesome of games such as Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley, it’s expected that at some point throughout the title, your character will probably die, be it by your own hand or the narrative’s. Usually, games will at least have some sort of tutorial or simple first level that will protect you from getting immediately killed, but that’s not always the case, in fact some games will go out of their way to see that you draw your last breath before the action even starts. For this list, we’re taking a look at the titles that instantly subvert expectations by killing their protagonist as soon as they’re physically able to. It doesn’t matter if the character stays dead and continues on as a spirit or other paranormal being, or if they’re resurrected soon afterwards, as long as they’re offed within the first few minutes of the game, they’re welcome on this list.
