Here are my Top 10 Pro Tips for Playing RPG Games. Role Playing games by definition are "a game in which players take on the roles of imaginary characters who engage in adventures, typically in a particular fantasy setting overseen by a referee." The key words are characters, engage, adventure.
With this in mind this is how I approach each RPG game I play:
1) Be ready for a journey
2) Grind monsters
3) Do quests at their appropriate level
4) Keep gear and equipment up to date
5) Pay attention to the story
6) Embrace team player mechanics
7) Don't be scared to use guides
8) Don't believe the hype - don't allow rumors of insanely long completion time to put you off
9) Explore the world presented to you, you'd be surprised at the wonderful sights you might see
10) Get your money's worth
