PS1 FINAL FANTASY VIII : *****

Graphic * (great)
One of best playstation graphic with revolutionary FMV at one time; with character, fashion, and environment design so loveable that you'll believe you're in other world.
Gameplay * (great)
Junction mechanics that allows you costumize playable characters in infinite combinations including stats, abilities, elemental affinities, and status ailments. This mechanic alone makes the game invaluable to be played infinitely.
Another game mechanic that unique is the level up; where the enemies leveling up as you level up. This added a lot to replayability since it sets challenges to be available.
Card mini games not only for collectibles but could be essential to the playthrough.
Replayability * (very high)
Junction mechanics make it possible for you to play with different setting and status for each characters every time you played the game. So do with challenges that available because of the level up mechanics and secret bosses in the game ensure the game to be played more than once.
Sound * (great)
First final fantasy series that get a special theme song and besides that; a lot new and classic final fantasy music and sound inside the game.
Story * (good)
Story is debatable good, since a lot of fans dissapointed by the plot twist and some even the whole story. It uses the theme of time compression, therefore it bounds to be a little bit confusing just as many time related story. But with all the fans theory out there, you must say the story is good because it sparked interest in people to talk about it even after finishing the game.
Overall: The game lives up to the series of Final Fantasy with rich gameplay and replayability not forget the awesome musics and sound effects. Graphic might be outdated but revolutionary at its time. Story might be a little bit confusing and dissapointing for some people but gameplay and replayability will overshadow it. In the end, this is one of the best JRPG in my Playstation 1 library with tons of playtime.
