The NFL and pro-wrestling have a lot in common. They are hard hitting, unpredictable, exciting, and filled with rabid fan bases. It’s only natural that various wrestling promotions have hosted NFL players through the years. Some made humorous appearances while others got physical in the ring.
Just days after winning the Super Bowl in 2011, the Green Bay Packers visited WWE Smackdown and Clay Matthews got involved with the main event of the night. Kevin Greene decided that playing football wasn’t enough so he joined WCW and would wrestle during his off-seasons. At WrestleMania 33, Rob Gronkowski got involved with the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal so he could help his friend Mojo Rawley. Brandon Jacobs made an appearance in TNA after winning the Super Bowl and used his strength to attack Bully Ray. Walter Payton is one of the all-time greats and accompanied Razor Ramon to the ring for a match at the 1994 Summerslam. WrestleMania 11 featured an NFL player in the main event as Lawrence Taylor took on Bam Bam Bigelow. Ben Roethlisberger and his teammates hosted Raw as they confronted Superstars like Chris Jericho. Bart Scott is known for famous tackles on the field and tried to duplicate them in the ring when he took on Kurt Angle during an episode of IMPACT Wrestling. WrestleMania 2 featured a battle royal which included a mix of NFL players taking on WWE stars. Michael Strahan is busy hosting all types of shows, but there was one point where he was appearing on everything, including WWE Raw. Watch to see all these NFL players in action.
