In the WWE, there is truly a tale of two John Cenas. Sometimes, he’s a smiley marketing machine who never says a bad thing, goofs off for the entertainment of children and acts a fool. Other times though, the gloves come off and Cena lets you feel like things are getting real. Even if they might still be scripted, it certainly feels damn real.
Take the time when he was feuding with The Rock in 2012. Rocky came out the previous week with crib notes for his promo, but Cena came out the next week and eviscerated the movie star. How about when the Miz thought he could play the same old Cena burial criticism but Cena flipped it back in his face? When he got slap Stephanie McMahon’s behind he reacted like a teenager who learnt that he could lock his door. For the entirety of his feud with Roman Reigns, Cena unleashed a tsunami of truth that drowned out the Big Dog. His legendary rivalry with CM Punk produced several great quotes and moments, some favouring Cena and some that weren’t a good look for him. When Dolph Ziggler whined and complained about the Cenation leader, Cena fired back and made it rain reality on the Show Off. With a mic in his hand, Cena can be a master troll, like when he turned heel after WrestleMania 29. Piss Cena off enough, and he might even take out his anger on a referee.
