Valisthea is a world divided by six nations. It is powered by Crystals and Dominants, which are humans that host each nation's Eikon. Tensions between the nations escalate as a magical drought dubbed the Blight begins consuming the land. Clive Rosfield, guardian to his younger brother, Joshua, witnesses his kingdom destroyed and becomes involved in the growing conflict between Valisthea's nations and the secret power behind the war tied to the dark Eikon Ifrit.
Armed with new information and resolved on the completion of his mission, Clive returns to the Hideaway to gather supplies and make prepartions. But all of that is put on hold when he finally receives some good news.
