Released at the very end of the PS1's life cycle, this game had stunning 3D graphics, an intriguing story and characters, and also an original and deep combat system ! This combat system is the game's strength but also a weakness.. as it can quite difficult to master ! No doubt many players never got far into the game because of it, but if you can find the time to learn its different intricacies, it can be very rewarding ! A special mention to the music, as every single piece is a masterpiece !

Vagrant Story is mainly a succession of finely crafted and inter connected dungeons, with many boss fights, and sometimes they can be difficult and even downright infuriating to navigate, even when looking at the map ! Snowfly Forest almost made me rage quit this game ! This is the real downside for me and what prevents it from reaching full marks. Sadly there was never a sequel, which is a shame as it could have gone on to become a great series..
