#134 VF5FS VF5 PS3 \\ Beat Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown AI on "Very Hard" with a few easy moves
(4/3/21 - Looks like Sega's going to have an "Ultimate Showdown" version of the game on PS4. Guess I'll have to try this against that game's AI when it comes out; will be pretty surprised if they've adjusted the AI though, since their focus this time seems to be squarely on e-sports. Note to self: if it works, call the video "Just mash the AI to death ("Very Hard" highest difficulty).")
The AI in Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown, at least in the DLC "Special Sparring" mode's "Very Hard" difficulty, can be beaten by most characters spamming a few easy moves. This does not work in "Hard" Quest mode in Virtua Fighter 5:
(Note: it took me a while to find the right moves in a few cases. ; )

Attacks spammed in FS:
Jean: P, dfP, bK
Brad: dfPK, P
Sarah: dfP, dfK, K, bK, P
El Blaze: K
Taka: K, P, bPK, fPK
^ For those same characters who exist in 5 (ie not Jean or Taka), in many cases they do not have those same FS moves in 5. In 5, for instance, El Blaze's K is just a kick, whereas if you mash it in FS, it becomes a long chain combo for high damage.
I think there are two main factors at play here: 1) the offensive capabilities of the characters were pumped up in FS, and 2) the AI was made more aggressive. So, in FS they pay less attention to defense, even while facing opponents with a more dangerous array of weapons than in previous games.
There might be more at work, though; it *feels* like the FS AI either ignores or is just less capable of recognizing and adapting to the opponent's tactic.
(By the way, I talk at the end here about now being able to set my PS3 to run in 1080p rather than 720p, and thus being able to force VF5 to run in (unsupported) 1080p. However, this ended up resulting in a blurrier, washed-out video; blurrier because I don't have the hardware to do 1080p60 video, so it was downsampled to 720p for YouTube, and washed-out because...well it could have been a limitation of the PS3 component video output, but I suspect it was more likely to be an initialization error with my Elgato HD60 capture device--however, when I went to check that, VF5 started hanging on me, just before or at the black "NOW LOADING" screen shortly after startup. So, next episode aside, I'll be sticking to 720p for VF5. : P)
