Shonen Anime is a lot of things. Most of the stories involved high octane action and epic moments. However, we often forget that between the larger than life fight scenes and the amazing spectacle of battle, emotional moments take place. Tragedy is often used to further motivate a main character in anime, their devotion and motivation made that much stronger in memory of their fallen comrade, but sometimes characters just need to grieve. Loved ones pass away, and sometimes those who cared for them most are unable to cope or fully deal with their death. This can lead to a defining moment in this character’s development. During Naruto Shippuden there were a lot of character deaths, some minor but mostly major characters bit the bullet. Some of the most tragic deaths in Naruto include the death of Jiraiya, Minato and Kushina Uzumaki, Itachi and more. Of course not all emotionally devastating moments center around a death. Sometimes events can happen that inflict emotional trauma on a character, like when Gaara cripples Rock Lee. He lived, but he did not live well after that moment. How could we not mention the moment when Sasuke learns about the truth behind his clan’s massacre. All of these moments and more will be discussed in today’s video where we will look at the most devastating moments in Naruto.
