#19: Double Ultra - Sakura Vs. Ryu
Fight Date: Nov. 09, 2020
Episode 19: I was so ecstatic with this fight before as I was able to end Ryu in 2 rounds with both Ultra Combo Finish the other being in the air. Looking back it's quite an ordinary fight. Still fun getting the better off of Ryu!
Difficulty: Hard
Rounds: 3
SP Move Assist: Off
Auto Guard: Off
Note: My Retroid Pocket 2 has an analog stick drift, so every start of round 1 I almost always have to jump/move using the analog stick to offset the drift before I go back to using the D-pad for fighting.

HISTORY
So, I had this little retro gaming device called Retroid Pocket 2 since early September 2020. Mainly to play with retro games from old consoles like PS1, N64, SNES and others. But since this is also running on Android OS, I tried installing Street Fighter 4 Champion Edition on it which I also have on my phone. I was not regularly playing it on my phone even if I am using a bluetooth controller since I feel setting it up feels so clunky. But after getting SF4CE ready on the Retroid I was immediately hooked. I can just go pickup the device and play instantaneously. My initial character for SF4CE was Ken, that fiery dragon punch was really cool compared to Ryu. But as I go on and play, I found his fighting style not too much suited to how I wanted to fight.
Then by October, I discovered Sakura. The character was perfect! She has the multiple hit dragon punch like Ken, the Focus Attack was very usable for a beginner as it has a longer reach, can charge fireballs and basically plays like any regular Shoto. Although she has a weaker moves (pathetic hadoken & tatsu), it was so much fun to fight with her style. Since then, I have grown an affinity in using Sakura as my main.
Before SF4CE I have fairly little experience playing Street Fighter. Only the few times when I rage quit on SFII on arcades when I was a kid. And the time I tried Street Fighter EX on my uncle's PS1 in high school. And those were decades ago! I liked the game but was never good at it.
Fast forward to 2020, I have grown to love the game, I guess a contributing factor was because SF4CE on mobile is easier to play (simplified). Moves seem to be easier to execute. I haven't played SF4/SF5 on PC or console so I can't compare.
The purpose of uploading these videos are:
1. Archiving. I have no more Replay slots on the device. Not all games, but what I think are interesting. Mostly, rivalry with Ryu.
2. Tracking my progress since I started playing with Sakura. From mashing buttons to finally developing set moves of my own.
3. Sharing it to whoever has the same passion for Street Fighter.
This project has been a long time in the making. I have since discovered the world of SF (Daigo, CPT, Evo, Moment 37) after I started getting hooked last year. I am in no way a good player, very amateur really. I understand some of the technical stuff like hitbox/hurtbox, hit confirm, punishing, frames etc. but don't really know how to apply. I'm just enjoying this game. So, enjoy!
