The show was inspired and named after the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, an ice hockey team based out of California, and the live-action sports movie Mighty Ducks, released in 1992. Puckworld, a planet of anthropomorphic ducks in a different universe, is constantly under attack from Saurians, a race of reptilians. The series follows a group of six ducks, protecting their planet from Saurians and other foes while beating other teams in ice hockey.
