Returnal checks all the boxes as far as I'm concerned. It's stunningly beautiful, has a neat gameplay loop, is difficult, is a great mix of sci-fi and tense horror parts. Brilliant job, brilliant game. Definitely worth the $70 asking price! Amazing bosses, brilliant shooting, excellent gameplay loop. Everything is here. I was fortunate enough to kill them all on the first attempt :)
