Astro’s Playroom is a Platformer game developed by Team Asobi and published by Sony which is a sequel to the popular VR game called Astro’s Rescue Mission. In here, you will be using the titular character Astro in going down the memory of the Playstation’s history. You will be visiting the four (4) major worlds which represent the four (4) previous generational consoles prior to Playstation 5. In your journey, you will be facing different puzzles and challenges and some awesome easter eggs of the many classic Playstation games which defined each of their generations.

Upon its release, the game received positive reception from gamer reviewers and received an average metacritic score of 83. Praises were given on how it represented the last 25 years of Playstation with its easter eggs and references, its graphical fidelity and smooth transition, and the solid platforming gameplay. However, criticisms were made on its short campaign which felt more like a technical showcase rather than a full fledged game.

As for me, I really2x enjoyed this game especially when you consider it a free game. Its childish details and light hearted settings was a good nostalgia feeling of the old platformer games while its smooth frames and gameplay made me enjoy the game. There is also a LOT of easter eggs in this game which makes you usually stop and think which game are being referenced by its NPC robots. However, I also disliked the shortness of its length. Regardless, this is one of the best launch games for of all time since it managed to give you a showcase of Playstation’s great gaming history while also giving you a glimpse of its future. A game that could be enjoyed by anybody that has a PS5. Enjoy!!!
