500 members of 2 YORKS have been preparing for their upcoming deployment to Afghanistan. The Catterick-based battalion will take over the role of the Kabul Protection Unit which is responsible for providing force protection to all NATO allies and mentors currently working to support the Afghan government and their security forces. In Afghanistan, they will be using the foxhound to taxi mentors between police stations, army bases and government buildings, and of course provide protection if required.
