27After the “wardrobe malfunction” at the Superbowl just weeks earlier and the controversy surrounding Michael Moore's acceptance speech at the previous ceremony in which he called President Bush a liar and illegitimate days after the start of the Invasion of Iraq, the Academy set up a time delay to cut out anything controversial, brought back the Billie Crystal for his 8th turn as host…you know…a safe pair of hands…and clearly gave strict instructions to everyone else to just chill.
All of this along with the fact that Return of the King swept the ceremony winning all eleven of the awards it was nominated for made the 76th Academy awards pretty dull…
