2010 Street Fighter Perfect Famicom Run (2/2)
Here is part 2 of my perfect run of the original Japanese version of what went on to become Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight for the NES. While both versions are identical, as far as the challenge/difficulty is concerned, they are different in some ways:
-Change of language from Japanese (Famicom) to English (NES) text
-Name change of the game's protagonist/hero from Kevin (Famicom) to Ken (NES)
-Some of the game's plot also changed in the NES version, but I'm unaware of the exact differences, because I don't understand Japanese hahaha :)
-Longer ending in the original Famicom version that contains the game's credits, which were completely removed from the NES version for some strange reason
2010 Street Fighter was originally released in Japan on August 8th, 1990 by Capcom after the original Street Fighter/Fighting Street and prior to Street Fighter II. However, the game ultimately failed, despite hinting at a possible sequel at the end of the game, and the rest is now Street Fighter history!
While some people view this game as the poor man's Mega Man, those who actually give it a chance, go on to appreciate it.
It's also worth noting that the prototype of what went on to become Guile's Flash Kick is featured in this game, as seen when Kevin/Ken acquires the flipshield capsule and performs a back flip attack. M. Bison's Psycho Crusher was also inspired by a villain's move from this game, that of the aquatic boss by the name of Skimmer.
This run is complete with all of the cut scenes, for those who care or are capable of reading them. It plays out more like a sci-fi movie this way anyway :).
Following the ending, I also included a rematch against Basher (the long-arm cyborg) without using the in-game invisible underground platform glitch that I discovered and used during the perfect run. While this fight proves that this boss can be beaten without taking any damage by battling him in a phone booth, so to speak, the odds are that Bsher will usually score a hit, so it's always best to play if safe if possible.
Footage from Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight is also included aftwerwards, such as a perfect second boss fight against Basher, as well as the rematch in the final area against him, but while using no power blast items or the in-game invisible platform glitch and still managing to not take any damage somehow, much to my surprise! So yes, it's definitely possible to perfect Basher, but some luck obviously needs to be on the player's side, without the use of the in-game glitch that is!
Finally, a time expiry death rounds off the footage in style, just to show the Game Over screen, as well as a funny glitch that I discovered to reach the final boss battle without even dropping down to his level hahaha!
I dedicate this perfect run to my friend Naoki from Japan who celebrates his birthday today (October 12th). It's already past midnight in Toronto, so it's official: Happy Birthday Naoki! 誕生日おめでとう。! Hopefully you will get to play this fantastic game some day, if you haven't already done so, man!
Played by Daniel "DTysonator" Teixeira on an original NES console back in August of 2013 while using an official controller and a Famicom game converter, in order to play 2010 Street Fighter on the NES. The Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight NES footage was recorded earlier tonight on my first try, no joke! Absolutely no cheating was used, as I have played this game WAY too much already and virtually know it by heart. Practice makes perfect!
