I'm running with the idea that I'm revising, not re-illustrating my old drawings. The reason for the distinction is that I don't really like having to re-draw, copy things from what they are originally. I think, unless I devote an unhealthy amount of time to replicating a drawing detail by detail, there is always going to be a loss in quality. In this case, the loss in quality is devastating, because I'm recreating the drawing in a separate medium and I'm using this series as a way to practice with digital programs.

In the time it takes me to gain as much confidence and control with a digital illustration as I do with a physical doodle, I hope that I can use this series of videos to revisit the ideas that lead me to drawing in the first place. I've not been creating art as much as I want, partly due to frustration, but mostly do to the fact that I don't have motivation. I've lost the intent that leads to a good drawing. As much as good drawing takes time, skill, and patience, it also takes a clear idea and a clear intention of what you want to express through your drawing.

At the end of the day, if I can express exactly what I want to the person who sees my art and make the final piece interesting, then I think I've made a good drawing. Regardless of how much technical skill is reflected therein.
