In the game since the early 70's, the Honda Civic has excelled in a long list of ways. The compact market has changed so much over that time, but adapting just comes naturally for the Civic. Here are five reasons the 2016 Honda Civic remains one-of-a-kind.

In the game since the early 70's, the Honda Civic has excelled in a long list of ways. The compact market has changed so much over that time, but adapting just comes naturally for the Civic. Here are five reasons the 2016 Honda Civic remains one-of-a-kind.
Attractive Styling
At first glance, the Civic design favors its family member, the Crosstour. Standard LED lights and 16-inch wheels compliment its fastback shape nicely. The Civic is available as a coupe and a hatchback, both of which are arriving later this year, and in five different trims as a sedan. In any form, the styling across the board is definitely engaging.
Excellent Engine
Of course you get Honda's well-known quality engine build, and when you couple that with the Civic's efficiency, this model has an edge over its competitors. The LX and EX trims return a combined 35 miles per gallon with the continuously variable transmission. These trims are rated at 158 horsepower, which is surely enough in most situations. The top three trims (the EX-T, EX-L and Touring) see almost exactly the same combined 35 mpg rating, yet they have a turbocharged 1.5 liter 4-cylinder with a peppy 174 horses.
Satisfying Value
It's no secret that Hondas are just built to last. The Civic starts at under $19,000. Our Touring edition test car checks in at around $26,500, which is not bad for a top-of-the-line trim. When you factor in the Civic's durability and reliability, you'll be very hard pressed to find anything cheaper that will outlive it.
Cabin Space
You might be deceived by the amount of space in this Honda. The Civic is longer and wider than before. That translates into a roomy, spacious Civic, which almost gives the mid-size segment a run for its money. Are you over 6 feet tall and want to sit in the back? Not a problem. Even the trunk has a bountiful 15.1 cu ft. of storage.
Responsive Ride
Behind the wheel, the Civic certainly doesn't drive like an economy car. When it comes to taking turns and cornering, the Civic is composed and handles well, thanks to Honda's mild suspension updates. The steering is precise and the overall comfort is really evident on longer road trips.
Autotrader Says
With millions and millions of Civics sold worldwide and counting, the proof is in the pudding. Check it out for yourself and see why the 2016 Honda Civic continues to stay in it to win it.
