Finding a 3-row crossover can be a tedious process these days. But with over 3 decades of credibility, the 2016 Nissan Pathfinder makes it hard to consider anything else. Check out these five reasons why the Pathfinder remains a great choice.
Upscale Features
In base form, standard 18-inch wheels and rear privacy glass are just the beginning. Additions include a heated steering wheel, cooled seats and a dual-pane panoramic moonroof. On all-wheel-drive models, the mode dialer has an Auto Mode setting that actually adjusts power to each wheel if it senses slick or treacherous conditions.
Family Friendliness
With three rows to seat seven passengers, the Pathfinder is at the ready for family trips. Nissan's EZ Flex seating system allows the second row to slide forward, and there are optional reclining third-row seats. Families will love the available tri-zone entertainment system that enables everyone to enjoy their own form of entertainment.
Tasteful Cabin
On the inside, the Pathfinder brings detailing that could teach luxury brands a thing or two. The materials and controls have a simple elegance to them, but they won't leave you scratching your head in confusion. The vehicle also has standard tri-zone climate control, and we're definitely fond of the optional wood-tone trim and 13-speaker Bose premium audio system.
Strong Safety
It's bigger than it looks and drives, but rest assured that the Pathfinder is as safe as they come. Earning a 5-star overall rating takes work, and Nissan certainly put in the hours. A rearview camera and rear parking sensors come standard on three out of the four models. The top-level Platinum trim even has a fancy Around View Monitor (also optional on the SL trim) that helps you determine if nearby objects are as close as you think they are.
Road Comfort
The Pathfinder holds true to its history of ruggedness, but Nissan has dialed in the vehicle's performance on the pavement. Powered by a 3.5-liter V6 delivering 260 horsepower, it has more than enough muscle for passing slower traffic. Still, it stays fairly quiet, and for its size, it's pretty smooth into corners. And the front-wheel-drive model gets 23 miles per gallon combined, so it's saving you at the pump, as well.
Autotrader Says
Starting around $30,000, the 2016 Nissan Pathfinder makes it reasonable to get into a 3-row crossover. Plus, when you consider its great safety rating, roomy cabin and user-friendly features, it's clear that the Pathfinder is worth a drive for you and your family.
