Aside from the styling element, one of the best benefits of a hatchback is the extra space. The Cruze has a 47.2-cu ft. cargo hold with the second row folded flat, which is pretty generous for a compact car. As an added plus, the hatchback function makes it easier to load things in and out.
Fuel Saver
Chevy gave the Cruze only one engine choice, but it's an efficient one. Returning close to 40 miles per gallon on the highway will definitely save you from a longer drive or commute. As far as power is concerned, the 153-horsepower 1.4-liter engine isn't the fastest or quickest of the bunch, but we still found it to be a fun drive.
Terrific Technology
Inside the cabin, coming standard is Chevy's MyLink interface on a 7-inch display screen. It also has standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto which, if you haven't used, work really well and actually specialize in keeping you connected to your smartphone. Keep in mind that on top trim levels, you can opt for a powerful 9-speaker Bose sound system.
Sharp Look
No matter where you go in this hatchback, you'll be sure to turn a few heads. Plain and simple, this car is sharp -- from the fun color selections to the design itself. On either the LT or Premier trim levels in which the hatchback is offered, you get 16-in alloys, a cool rear spoiler and even LED running lights. You can even go for some cool chrome exterior accents.
Reassuring Safety
The Cruze has standard OnStar in case of an emergency. Parents should be excited to know that there is standard Teen Driver technology, which lets you set some features that allow for greater peace of mind while your teen is out there on the road. You can also go for the available rear parking sensors and other innovative safety.
