14The 2018 Ford Escape passenger's space was seriously compromised by intruding structure. Upper interior intrusion measured as much as 27 cm at the upper hinge pillar and 19 cm at the dashboard. Maximum lower interior intrusion measured 22 cm at the hinge pillar. The door sill was pushed in laterally 10 cm toward the passenger dummy.
Measures from the dummy indicate that injuries to the right hip would be likely in a crash of this severity. The risk of significant injuries to other body regions is low.
The dummy’s head contacted the frontal airbag but then rolled around the right side. The side curtain airbag did not deploy, leaving the dummy's head vulnerable to contact with side structure and outside objects.
Measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity.
