HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!! 2017 was certainly an incredible year for me. Of course, there were ups and downs, but in the end, I can certainly say I achieved so much in 2017 that I'm incredibly proud of. I started high school, participated in an international championship for robotics in the UK, visited China for the first time, and of course, I started YouTube and undertook the name "GD Juniper", a name which, at the time, had no value to me other than a side project or something that I thought would die out in a few days.
But lo and behold, I found creating videos to be really fun, and as my fanbase grew and grew I began leaving a mark on the Geometry Dash community. I made great friends and lost many, but those who are still with me are the true people who I know I can count on no matter what.
And in less than a year here I am with an astonishing 17,500-ish subscribers! To many larger YouTubers, this can be seen as a childish accomplishment; to those just starting their journey, it can be viewed as something to only dream of. But in my eyes, I was once starting my journey, and I'm so proud of how far I've come.
I've done things I never ever thought I could have done. I proved myself wrong so many times whenever I doubted myself. I found motivation to change myself for the better and to be a more positive person in general, and I found true happiness by giving that feeling of laughter and joy to other people.
I really hope that 2017 was a special year for you all, and even if it wasn't, I hope that each and every one of you sees 2018 as an opportunity. Not only that, but I want you all to seize that opportunity and make something of it. You can see the year as an opportunity, but unless you take action, it's not going to give you anything back. Make 2018 a great year, you guys; I know you can. Set goals aside from simple resolutions. Seek to better yourselves. Recognize that sometimes, it's okay to not be perfect. It's okay to be below the 99th percentile. It's perfect to just be yourself. That's what matters.
