The 2024 Genesis G70 continues to make a strong case for itself in the luxury compact sedan segment, offering a compelling blend of performance, luxury, and value. This year, Genesis has upgraded the G70 with a new base engine, a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder, replacing the previous 2.0-liter unit. This new engine produces 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful base engine in its class. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, available in both rear-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive configurations, except in Canada where AWD is standard.

The G70's design remains largely unchanged, but it receives new wheel designs and four new color options in the US, including Vatna Gray and Kawah Blue. Inside, the G70 features a redesigned climate control setup, upgraded Genesis Connected Services, and Digital Key technology. Despite the high-quality materials and finishes in the cabin, the G70's infotainment system is beginning to show its age, and the second row is notably tight.

On the road, the G70 impresses with its well-mannered performance, offering a blend of comfort and sportiness that is satisfying for both daily driving and more spirited endeavors. The G70 is also equipped with Genesis-branded Brembo brakes and 19-inch alloys as standard equipment, underscoring its performance capabilities.

From a value perspective, the 2024 G70 remains competitive. In the US, pricing starts at $42,750 for the 2.5T Advanced model, which includes a range of standard features such as Brembo brakes, power-adjustable and heated front seats, a 10.25-inch navigation system, and 19-inch alloys. The top-end 3.3T Sport Prestige model, featuring an adaptive suspension, limited-slip differential (LSD), and Nappa leather, is priced at $55,600. All-wheel drive is an optional extra across all trim levels for an additional $2,100.

The G70's new base engine, improved features, and strong value proposition make it a noteworthy option for those in the market for a luxury compact sedan. While it may not have the tech-forward interior of some rivals or the spaciousness of others, its blend of driving dynamics, luxury, and competitive pricing continues to make it an attractive choice.
